Estimation and Measurement

Today students learned the difference between estimating and making an accurate measurement. We used tiles for our 
non-standard measurement. Students estimated how many tiles long various items around the room would measure. 
Then, students measured with the tiles to determine an accurate number. Finally, we worked on checking our numbers before turning in our paper.

Express the length of an object as a whole number of length units, by laying multiple copies of a shorter object (the length unit) end to end; understand that the length measurement of an object is the number of same-size length units that span it with no gaps or overlaps.
