ABC Order

Today the class learned how to put letters and words in alphabetical order. Our group activity included the students lining up in order by first name. We reviewed the famous "ABC" song as we checked our names to make sure we were in the correct order. We also learned what to do when two words begin with the same letter. Our class thought it was amazing how we had several friends with very similar beginnings (and entire names). We learned that we keep going until there is a different letter. Then, we figure out which letter between the two words comes first.

We put our knowledge into practice as we did our "Cheetah Checklist" today. Our "Cheetah Checklist" is what we use during our independent work time. Today, one of our activities was to place our Word Wall Words in alphabetical order. We created a caterpillar with our word wall circles.

CCSS L.1.1

Demonstrate command of the conventions of standard English grammar and usage when writing or speaking.

On another note... I forgot to mention that Scholastic Book Orders are due on Friday, September 26th. You can send in the form with a check (labeled in an envelope) or you can order online. The online code is on the front of the book order!
