Educreations, Character Turn and Talk, and Student Council

Student Council:

Our Student Council Representatives shared information about Box Tops, Letters to Nursing Home Residents, and Kipling Spirit Days (every Friday).

Character Discussion:

Friends worked together in pairs to discuss the main characters in their books for independent reading time. The students worked on speaking their sentences clearly so the partner could hear and understand. The students also worked on active listening and taking turns.

CCSS Addressed in Character Activity:
CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.RL.1.3
Describe characters, settings, and major events in a story, using key details.

Indoor Recess

We had indoor recess today due to the wetness outside. The students were busy exploring different manipulatives, games, and puzzles. Other students were busy drawing, creating their own books, and designing book covers.

Educreation Share Time:
The students took turns sharing their true/false story problems homework assignment from last week. They were so excited to show off their hard work. We worked on explaining why an equation is true or false.

CCSS Addressed in Educreation Activity:

Work with addition and subtraction equations.

CCSS.MATH.CONTENT.1.OA.D.7
Understand the meaning of the equal sign, and determine if equations involving addition and subtraction are true or false. For example, which of the following equations are true and which are false? 6 = 6, 7 = 8 - 1, 5 + 2 = 2 + 5, 4 + 1 = 5 + 2.
