This Week in Room 7

ELA:
We continue our exploration of the many Cinderella versions from around the world. This week our class takes off to learn more about Asia. We will be reading two versions of Cinderella this week:
The Korean Cinderella (Shirley Climo and Ruth Heller)
Yeh-Shen: A Cinderella Story from China (Ai-Ling Louie and Ed Young)

We are learning about the key elements in fiction text, how to compare/contrast characters and events for various stories, and identifying who is telling the story at various points in the book.

Word Wall Words:

Please continue to have your child practice reading, spelling, and writing the sight words. The goal is to read and write the words automatically.

We are working on writing many sentences about a single topic. The students are learning how to combine two simple sentences together.
*At this point in the school year, students should be able to identify when their sentence writing does not begin with a capital letter or end with punctuation. They should be able to proofread their own text and make necessary corrections.
